An Oasis right next to the Bay

25 March 2007 No Comment

Making biofuels available on a large scale is an emerging national issue. Translation: Political gridlock. Local issue? How about local action.

Biofuel Oasis is a female owned worker cooperative selling biodiesel. Pumps are open 4 days a week with a cost/gallon virtually identical to premium gasoline.

Think you have to spend mucho bucks to convert your diesel car? Guess again. With their transesterfication process, no modifications to your diesel car have to be made. Using biodiesel requires a bit more attention on your car, but Biofuel Oasis hosts workshops to educate you.

So next time you reach for that $3.50 bag of chips, how about filling your car with a gallon of biodiesel to take that potato chip smell everywhere you go. Minus the calories.

My take-away lesson here, the responsibility to create sustainable world falls to all of us. Biofuel Oasis is an incredible example of what is possible when a community takes action on a local level.
