What are they doing to our waste water?
The San Francisco Public Utilities Comission governs our residential water and water treatment. They have many waste water treatment plants in San Francisco, with two open for tours on a monthly basis.
In support of the upcoming event on Water Management, I will be organizing trip to the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant in the Outer Sunset on September 8th, 10:00AM. If you are interested, send me an email with your name and contact info. The tour is completely free and will last between 1 to 2 hours.
This is an exceptional opportunity to see what is done to water before it is sent back into the Pacific and Bay. At the same time, you can ask questions how “safe” standards are met, what happens in the case of a problem, and the future of wastewater management here in San Francisco. Water quality of the Bay and Ocean directly impacts us on a daily basis: the health of the beach, native plants, local food and fish all are tied to water quality. The health of the Bay and Ocean water and the our overall health are inexorably tied.
